Brazil's sugar exports hit a record high in October. China accounted for a quarter of imports

Brazil′s sugar export sales hit a record high in October 2020, rising 121 per cent year on year to $1.2bn. Sugar exports also reached a record 4.2 million tons.
In October, sugar exports to China were the highest, accounting for 25.9 percent of the total, reaching $311.4 million. It also exported mainly to India ($107.8.2 million; (b) Bangladesh (us $85.07 million; + 94.1%) and the United States ($61.95 million; + 202.3%).
Ethanol exports also increased to $1848.7 million (up 75.4% year on year). The main importer of Brazilian ethanol was the United States (us $63.91 million, -1.1 per cent); South Korea ($45.79 million; + 53.6 per cent) and the European Union ($45.75 million; + 3681%).
